Le jour du Centre Pompidou! We stayed a whole day here. Having lunch, seeing exhibitions and shopping! There are many funny stuffs and good design/art books at shop. I saw many interesting works at permanent collection.
My parents came to Paris, too. We rent a cute Fiat to go to suburb of Paris. At first, we went to Chateau de Versailles to see Korean artist, Lee Ufan exhibition in beautiful Versailles Garden. For the past several years, the palace invited contemporary artists to exhibit works in the garden. Ten works by Lee Ufan were installed in the garden. “L’ombre des etoiles” was my favorite piece. Shining white stones on the floor were awesome. His modern installations are in harmony with garden. If you have a plan to go there, take a map to see every works! Because it’s difficult to find them in this huge garden and some works are hidden.
BONJOUR! After Haute Couture Fashion Week, it’s time to explore Paris. First of all, I went to my favorite district, Saint-Germain-des-Pres. I had time at my favorite bookstore, La Hune to get inspired. You can find many design, fashion, art, architecture and cute children’s book. It’s very attractive it’s opened until midnight during the weekdays. And I had an awesome hot chocolate with a friend at cafe Le Bonaparte. After a long chatting, we walked Saint-Germain-des-Pres. I found many art galleries and interesting paintings on the wall. We passed laundry, Midnight in Paris filming location. And we had a dinner at Polidor restaurant where Gil(Owen Wilson) met Ernest Hemingway.
I went to Japanese artist, Kusama Yayoi exhibition at Hangaram Gallery. She is famous for dot repetition. She collaborated on a collection with Louis Vuitton in 2012. Most of her works is in psychedelic colors, repetition and pattern. It was fun to participate in her installation with four different dot stickers.
Korean sunglasses brand Gentle Monster shop just opened! Black submarine in the shop… automatic mirror door(looks like a wall)… The exterior and interior design are very unique. I tried every sunglasses to find good one for me.
I went to Hiroshi Sugimoto’s exhibition at Leeum. I could see a wide range of his art from the late 1970s to the present. It was fun to experience his long exposure idea in front of his famous theater.
